Sweden falls one place, from 27th to 28th, in the International Federation of Association Football's (Fifa) World Championship ranking. It is the men's national team's worst ranking in seven years.
The Blue-Yellow have been sliding down the ranking over the past two years after failing to qualify for both the World Championship in Qatar 2022 and this summer's European Championship in Germany. The men's football team has also failed in the Nations League tournament and was relegated from the B division in September 2022.
In Fifa's ranking in April this year, Sweden was 27th in the world, and when Thursday's update came, Sweden had fallen to 28th. The Blue-Yellow has not been ranked so low since June 2017 when the men's national team was 34th.
At the top, the situation remains unchanged. The reigning World Champions Argentina top the ranking ahead of France and Belgium.
