For Emma Ribom, it was a tough day. She missed advancing to the quarterfinals after finishing 39th.

Four out of five Swedish women were among the 30 who advanced, and behind Sundling, Moa Hansson was the big joy with a fifth place. Moa Lundgren (15th) and Maja Dahlqvist (20th) are also clear for the quarterfinals.

Edvin Anger, who took his first World Championship victory in the sprint last time, advanced as third in the men's qualification. The Swede was 1.55 seconds behind the leader Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, Norway.

In the quarterfinals, Anger will be joined by Oskar Svensson, who finished eighth.

Johan Häggström, Måns Skoglund, Anton Grahn, and Olof Jonsson are eliminated.

The quarterfinals start at 13.15.
