Russia's war in Ukraine was in focus for the three-hour-long talks when the presidents met at the Great Hall of the People at Tiananmen Square. Stubb has previously said that Xi can put an end to the war with a single call to Putin.
Xi himself brought up and commented on the issue, Stubb reported at a press conference.
He said that it may be true, but it's not quite that simple, said Stubb, referring to Xi.
Stubb also said he raised the fact that Russia's aggressive war in Ukraine poses a direct security risk to Finland.
All support for Russia's aggressive war and especially deliveries of dual-use materials affect our security, he said.
This refers to materials that can be used for both military and civilian purposes.
Also, reports that North Korean soldiers have been sent to Russia were brought up. According to Stubb, Xi could neither confirm nor deny the reports.
Stubb also raised the issue of expanding the UN Security Council, something that Xi cautiously opens up for, according to him. Stubb has previously proposed that the council should be expanded to include representatives from Africa, Asia, and Latin America, and that the veto power of the permanent members should be abolished.
