The police have found a large cache of weapons linked to gang criminals in Greater Gothenburg. The discovery was made in connection with a car being stopped in Mölndal on Thursday, which Göteborgs-Posten was the first to report on.

Narcotics found in the stopped car led the police to an apartment with more drugs – and a large quantity of weapons.

It's about a larger quantity, more than a handful of weapons, says Christian Nylén, who is the local police chief in southern Gothenburg.

The police believe that the seizure has prevented a major violent crime.

One person has been detained on suspicion of crime, and it may be necessary to detain more people, according to the police.

The person who is detained has connections to our criminal networks in Greater Gothenburg. We see that this seizure hits right into the conflicts we have, says Christian Nylén.
