Stop to Bloody Activity in Gymnasium

Under so-called body suspension, hooks are pulled through the skin of the participants, who are then hoisted into the air, hanging in their own skin. Now, Ängelholm municipality is putting a stop to the rental of a gym to the activity, citing that it is too bloody, reports HD/Sydsvenskan.

It is an activity that perhaps more belongs in a circus or a variety show, but nothing that we can allow in a gym where both children's parties and sports lessons are held, says Peter Björkqvist, unit manager for bathing, sports, and leisure, to the newspaper.

About ten people have, for 14 years, rented a gym in the municipality to engage in body suspension. The couple Viveca Svensson and Jesper Botoft explain that they are very particular about hygiene. They have never left blood or hooks behind and have never tried to conceal what type of activity it is from the municipality.

We usually do a summer hanging and a winter hanging, says Jesper Botoft to the newspaper.

The municipality states that it is on the advice of the National Board of Health and Welfare that the rental is terminated.
