In a press release ahead of Wednesday's digital press conference before the weekend's long-distance skiing event in the Czech Republic, it was announced that only a few people would be allowed to ask direct questions to Stina Nilsson – compared to the interviews with the other skiers where the word was free.
The people were SVT's Anders Blomquist and Jacob Hård.
Other media were asked to submit their questions in advance, which the organizer would "try to fit into the program".
David Nilsson, CEO of Ski Classics, says it was due to time constraints.
We had six minutes per skier and got very many questions. But we will review how we can improve this.
"Preparation for TV channels"
Stina Nilsson has kept a low profile ahead of her first winter in Ski Classics and has declined many interview requests, including from TT.
When asked if the setup was a requirement from Stina Nilsson, David Nilsson replied in the negative. Nor is the primary reason that SVT is the rights holder.
We're doing a "live session" that's not really a press conference, but a preparation for the TV channels that broadcast the race. But we will review it so that as many as possible are satisfied, of course, he says.
At the press conference, Stina Nilsson received varying questions. Partly about her status after missing the last race due to illness.
"Not at all tempted"
The problems started before New Year's. Then I made the mistake of training too hard too early, so I got a setback. But now I'm feeling well and am ready to go.
She also gets asked if she can imagine returning to traditional cross-country skiing – like Norwegian Astrid Øyre Slind.
What she's done is incredibly impressive. But I'm not at all tempted to return.
This weekend's Ski Classics event in Bedrichov will take place on Sunday.
