Unemployment is still increasing, but only slightly. At the same time, the number of employed persons is almost unchanged in October compared to previous months, according to seasonally adjusted and trend-based data from the Statistics Sweden.
Unemployment stood at 8.5 percent in October, unchanged compared to September and August, but higher than a year ago. The employment rate, the proportion of employed persons in relation to the population, has decreased from 68.9 percent in September to 68.8 percent.
"In October, we see a subdued labor market with few major changes", says Sandra Medenica, statistician at the Labor Force Surveys at SCB, in a press release.
