Speedway Star Returns to Sweden

The Dackarna had to settle for an SM silver in 2024, but are now gearing up to reclaim the speedway throne. The goal-oriented club has secured the services of three-time World Champion Nicki Pedersen for next season.

"Nicki is one of the biggest profiles in sports of all time and also a three-time individual World Champion. When we started discussing with each other, we soon realized that we thought similarly about most things in speedway", says Dackarna's team leader Rikard Kling in a press release.

The 47-year-old Dane belonged to Dackarna during the 2014 and 2015 seasons. He will also be driving in the top Polish league for the newcomer Rybnik next year.

"I will prepare myself in the best way and am still very hungry for speedway. I am not at all interested in flopping, but my plan is to be an important driver for Dackarna and for my Polish team", says Nicki Pedersen, who won individual World Championships in 2003, 2007, and 2008.

In the summer of 2022, Pedersen broke his hip in a nasty crash in a league match with Grudziadz in the Polish league. He has previously driven in Sweden for teams such as Västervik, Smederna, Lejonen, and Masarna.

Dackarna lost the SM final against Lejonen last autumn, but won the gold in 2023 and have taken a total of seven SM gold medals.
