South Korean Fires Claim 27 Lives as Dry Conditions Persist

27 people have died in the large forest and land fires in South Korea, the Ministry of the Interior and Security announces.

Several fires are still raging under dry conditions and strong winds.

"27 are dead and 32 have been injured", the department states in a statement. It is the largest number of deaths recorded since the country began keeping statistics in 1987.
