Among other things, they deviated from applicable rules regarding safety, wages and breaks, the investigation shows. It also shows that the employees worked up to 90 hours a week.

The investigation was initiated in May after a Chinese worker told the police that he had been assaulted by his manager when he asked to receive his wages.

The court in Milan decided on Monday on a year's administration of Loro Piana. They will also have to pay fines of over 181,000 euros, equivalent to just over two million kronor, and administrative fees of approximately 60,000 euros (approximately 675,000 kronor).

Loro Piana says that they were not aware of the subcontractor and that they terminated the collaboration when they became aware of the circumstances.

Several other luxury brands within LVMH, including Armani, have previously been accused of violating working conditions.

In May, Dior – which is also owned by LVMH – was acquitted of violating working conditions, but was required to pay two million euros in fines to "victims of exploitation".
