Specialized groups have recovered the dead from four different locations, according to the civil defense statement published by the Lebanese state news agency NNA. No details have been provided about how the individuals may have died.
It was on Tuesday that the deadline for the Israeli withdrawal expired, according to an agreement with the Shia militia Hezbollah, which in turn is supposed to withdraw further away from Israel.
The Israeli army has withdrawn from all border towns except for five locations, while the Lebanese army is gradually being deployed due to explosives in certain areas and damage to roads, says a source within Lebanon's security forces to AFP.
The withdrawal means that displaced residents can begin returning to border villages, many to destroyed or damaged homes.
Remaining
The fragile ceasefire agreement reached in November last year means that Lebanon's regular, but relatively weak, army is to deploy forces in the south, where they are to maintain peace together with international UN forces. The Lebanese army announced on Tuesday morning a number of locations where Lebanese soldiers are being deployed.
Israel's Defense Minister Israel Katz states that Israeli military plans to remain in five locations in southern Lebanon after the deadline has expired, and warns that they will take strong action if Hezbollah commits "violations" of the agreed ceasefire.
Occupation
Lebanon condemns all Israeli presence in the country after the deadline has expired, and calls it an occupation. The UN views Israel's remaining presence in Lebanon as a breach of the agreement to end the war.
Lebanon will, according to the president's spokesperson, request assistance from the UN Security Council to "address Israeli violations and force Israel to immediately withdraw".
