Sweden's first children's art museum opens in Lund – initially housed in an old courthouse building.

We see that children have their own expression and that they have the right to express themselves, says Lone Bach Borius, chairperson of the association Medvind, to Sydsvenskan.

The idea has been with her for many years, among other things after visiting the international children's art museum in Oslo.

The chairperson of Lund's culture and leisure committee, Sebastian Jaktling (S), sees the initiative as a way to broaden the cultural offerings. At the same time, the art hall becomes an important tool for involving children and young people in art and cultural life, he believes.

The new art hall has received a temporary rental contract in Lund's old courthouse, which will later be converted into a congress center. The plan is to later find a more permanent local solution.

The children's art hall has its first vernissage on April 12.
