Households' average interest rate on variable mortgages amounted to 3.45 percent in December. This is 1.41 percentage points lower than a year ago, according to new figures from Statistics Sweden (SCB).
For fixed-rate loans, 1-5 years, the mortgage interest rate averaged 2.85 percent in December. A year earlier, the same rate was 4.19 percent.
The upward price trend on the housing market is also starting to have another effect. The growth rate of housing loans is now increasing. In December, it amounted to 1.4 percent, according to SCB, an increase of 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous month.
