With the help of Ukrainian drones, around 1,000 kilos of hash have been transported over the short sea stretch between Morocco and the city of Algeciras, on the southernmost coast of the Iberian Peninsula, without even needing to land on Spanish soil, reports RTVE.
Now, ten people have been arrested by Spanish police, including what is believed to be the network's leader. The "narcodrones", as they are called in Spanish media, are suspected to have been manufactured in Ukraine and transported to Spain via land routes.
In the operation, Spain has collaborated with Europol as well as Ukrainian and Polish authorities. Each drone had space for around ten kilos of hash – and around a hundred flights have been made between Morocco and Spain, according to Spanish police.
