The smoke development at the Royal Opera in the weekend came from an open fireplace. The press service at the National Property Board (SFV) tells TT that the fireplace had been used and that smoke seeped out into the room from the inside of the chimney.
It was on Saturday that the Opera was evacuated after staff alerted that a room on the top floor, where the ballet department and costume studio are located, had filled with smoke. No audience members needed to be evacuated since the evening's concert was over, and the smoke development ceased.
