We have cordoned off the area and are conducting interviews. The helicopter is involved, we have dog patrols and a hunt for the perpetrators is underway, says police spokesperson Ola Österling.

There are witness statements about how the individuals believed to have done this are thought to have looked, he continues.

A resident in a neighboring house heard several shots in quick succession and saw a suspected perpetrator fleeing the scene.

We first heard a shot, then about three more. We saw him running down the stairs and then out towards Årstafältet. There are masses of police and a helicopter searching now, the person tells TT.

The alarm came in at 20.38 on Friday evening. The incident is being investigated as attempted murder.

According to the police, several people have been checked during the hunt for perpetrators, but no one has been arrested. They are investigating whether parts of the sequence of events may have been caught on surveillance cameras.

The police are knocking on doors and interviewing neighbors in the 12-story high building. Forensic technicians have secured traces and "other technical evidence", the police write on their website.

This is the second shooting in Årsta in less than a week. On Sunday, shots were fired at an apartment door at another address in the district. Even then, people were in the apartment, but no one was physically injured.
