New Record Set on Kebnekaise's Western Trail by Erik Sifvert

Erik Sifvert, sports manager at Kebnekaise's mountain station, has taken himself up and down the western trail to the mountain top – which is longer than the eastern – in 2 hours and 41 minutes. Sifvert thus beat the previous record of 2 hours and 45 minutes from 2018, which he himself also set.

The trail is 18 kilometers long back and forth, with uneven and steep terrain. For almost everyone, the same feat usually takes somewhere between 10 and 14 hours.

How have you celebrated?

Yes, it was bed rest. I was quite tired afterwards. I had a beer and then it was early to bed. Today I'm a bit sore, says Erik Sifvert on the phone.

In addition to training a bit more and resting up, Erik Sifvert made sure the weather was fairly good before the record attempt.

It was maybe around 8 degrees down by the mountain station and then it snowed a little at the top so it was probably around zero degrees, but I had a t-shirt and shorts all the way anyway.
