The woman applied for economic assistance for treatment with the medication Ozempic. Her home municipality said no, but now the Administrative Court has decided that the municipality will pay, reports Dagens Juridik.

Ozempic is subsidized when used for treatment for type 2 diabetes. But those who use it for weight loss for obesity (obesity) need to pay the entire amount, 1,049 kronor per month themselves.

The Labor Market and Social Committee in the woman's home municipality stated as a reason that the medication is not covered by the pharmaceutical benefit and that the right to assistance for such medications only exists in pure exceptional situations and if there are very strong reasons

But the Administrative Court makes a different assessment. In consideration of the fact that none of the methods that the woman has tested so far have given the desired result, the Administrative Court assesses that she is in need of the medication to lose weight.
