It's Wednesday morning and the first lessons are about to begin at Trångsundsskolan in Huddinge when several students hear a bang from one of the toilets.
From inside, screams are heard, and when the door opens, a boy rushes out and disappears. Shortly after, another boy stumbles out of the toilet, bleeding in the face and holding his mouth.
The entire toilet was filled with blood, says a student who witnessed the event, in an interview.
Sharp Pistol
The school nurse who calls 112 believes, based on the boy's condition, that the injury was caused by some kind of air rifle, but it later turns out that he was shot with a sharp pistol.
The shooter is quickly identified, both by the injured boy and by several others who saw him flee. He is arrested shortly after, when he is handed over by his parents, whom he called in panic after the incident.
In connection with this, the police also receive the pistol from the father, who had taken it from his son.
In the subsequent investigation, the police find chats on the boy's phone, which reveal that he had taken on a murder assignment for an unknown person. It also becomes clear that he had possessed the pistol for several days before the shooting at the school.
Claims it was a Game
In pictures found on his mobile, he poses with the pistol on a toilet, and in voice messages he sent over an encrypted app, he says he carries it around the clock.
"Hi, I wore soft pants today, they almost fell down, right in the classroom," he writes in a message.
The murder assignment is not believed to have anything to do with the shooting at the school, which is still shrouded in great uncertainty. Nothing suggests, according to the prosecutor, that the shooting was planned, and no motive has been found.
The boy who was shot says it was undoubtedly a deliberate shot, even though he himself doesn't know why. The suspect claims it was an accident when they were playing with the weapon.
"Got Lucky"
Prosecutor Kajsa Lindberg believes, however, that there are reasons to trust the plaintiff.
That's why I've charged it as an intentional crime. The alternative charge of gross bodily harm is if the court decides to base its judgment on the defendant's statements.
The boy who was shot was very lucky, she says.
If the bullet had taken a slightly different direction, it could have led to a life-threatening injury.
The trial in the case begins on Thursday at Södertörn District Court. The hearing is held behind closed doors.
The 15-year-old is charged with attempted murder for the shooting at Trångsundsskolan on September 4, 2024, when a peer was shot in the face in a school toilet. Alternatively, the prosecutor is seeking a conviction for gross bodily harm.
The boy is also charged with preparation for murder and gross weapons offense, between September 1-4. According to the indictment, he planned to shoot and kill an unidentified person in Stockholm at some point between September 3-8. The 15-year-old allegedly took on the assignment in exchange for a payment of 400,000 kronor.
In the same case, the prosecutor has also brought charges against a 14-year-old boy for involvement in the same murder preparations. The 14-year-old is suspected, among other things, of having mediated contact between the 15-year-old and an unknown instigator and trying to persuade him to carry out the shooting.
