The world-renowned star is a dedicated supporter of Premier League club Ipswich Town since childhood and has bought into the club. On Sunday, he was on site at Portman Road and celebrated the point Ipswich took in the 1–1 draw against Manchester United.

In an apparently excited state of mind, he caught sight of former Liverpool star Jamie Redknapp, now tied to Sky Sports. Redknapp was in the middle of an interview with United's new manager Rúben Amorim when Sheeran stepped forward to give Redknapp a hug.

The interview was interrupted as Redknapp asked Sheeran to come by a little later. On his Instagram account, Sheeran apologizes to Amorim today, Monday, for his faux pas.

"Sorry if I offended Amorim yesterday, didn't actually realize he was being interviewed at the time, jumped in to say hi and goodbye to Jamie", wrote Sheeran.
