The Sevilla player Kike Salas has been arrested by the police and is accused of having deliberately received yellow cards in a match-fixing scandal, reports La Liga.
According to the Spanish news agency EFE, Salas intentionally tried to receive yellow cards to earn money for family members and friends who had placed bets on the games.
The 22-year-old defender has received three yellow cards this season and ten last season, of which seven in the last eight matches he played during the season.
His club says it is aware of the arrest and is closely following the situation.
