North Korea is preparing to destroy the roads that connect the country with its southern neighbor. This was announced by the South Korean military on Monday.
Destruction of the roads would be in line with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un's plans to cut off contact with South Korea. It is a way for North Korea to cement its southern neighbor as the closed dictatorship's archenemy.
According to the South Korean military, a number of activities have been observed that suggest the demolition is imminent.
They have set up screens on the roads and are working behind these to prepare for blowing up the roads, says Lee Sung-joon, spokesperson for South Korea's defense staff, at a press conference.
North Korea has recently accused Seoul of spreading propaganda leaflets over Pyongyang and has threatened to respond violently if this happens again. Last week, it was announced from the north that the border between the countries will be permanently closed.
