Our sensors can handle that type of wind turbines, so they don't obscure what you're trying to look for, says Micael Johansson to Dagens Nyheter.

The background to his statement is the announcement a week ago that the government rejected 13 applications for wind farms in the Baltic Sea. According to Defense Minister Pål Jonson (M) it could make it more difficult to conduct signals intelligence and, for example, detect submarines or airborne attacks in the form of ballistic or cruise missiles.

But according to Saab, there are technical solutions:

Our sensors can actually see through things like wind turbines to still create a good situational awareness, says Micael Johansson.

According to him, the Swedish Armed Forces did not consult broadly with Saab on the issue, but his impression is that the Swedish Armed Forces are still aware of the matter.
