The report is the first complete evaluation since 2012 of Breivik's mental health. It is presented during the ongoing trial as Anders Behring Breivik has once again requested conditional release.
We see no signs of schizophrenia or other psychotic conditions, testified psychologist specialist Kåre Nonstad in court.
He added, however, that the report shows that Breivik has extremely right-wing views.
Breivik's defense attorney Øystein Storrvik believes, however, that Breivik is seriously ill and needs better prison conditions.
This is what we are concerned about, says Storrvik.
Anders Behring Breivik is serving a 21-year sentence, so-called detention – a prison sentence that can be extended – for the terrorist attacks on Utøya and at the Norwegian government headquarters in the summer of 2011.
In Norway, prisoners have the right to a court review of conditional release when ten years of the sentence have been served. In February 2022, Breivik was denied a first request.
