The risk of a major war in the Middle East has decreased somewhat, at least in the short-term perspective. That assessment is made by the US Defense Chief Charles Brown, according to the news agency Reuters.
One reason is the extensive attacks that Israel and Hezbollah carried out against each other the other day. It has reduced the tension somewhat, even though Iran's potential plans for a large-scale attack on Israel are still a concern.
Brown leads the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), the supreme council of the defense branches in the USA.
