Ukraine's capture of parts of Russian Kursk does not affect Russia's offensives elsewhere. This is claimed by President Vladimir Putin during a visit to a school in southern Siberia.

They thought they would stop our offensive in important parts of Donbass (in eastern Ukraine), says Putin to the schoolchildren, who on Monday began the autumn term.

The result is well known, they have not stopped our advances.

He also promises tough resistance against the Ukrainian successes in Kursk.

We must, of course, deal with these scoundrels who have entered the Russian Federation.

That Ukraine's forces entered Kursk, a border region north of the main front areas in the war, surprised the entire world. The offensive began on August 6. Now Ukraine claims to have captured an area of over 1,200 square kilometers, an area equivalent to almost half of Blekinge.
