A 25-year-old man is convicted of raping a three-year-old girl at a preschool in Flen. The man, who worked at the preschool, is sentenced to five years in prison for gross child rape.
"I believe that the crime should be assessed as gross due to the fact that the victim is a three-year-old child and because the suspect has shown particular ruthlessness by exploiting his position as preschool staff," said prosecutor Fredrik Beijar in a press release in connection with the man's indictment.
The assault on the girl became known when the girl's guardian picked her up from the preschool. The man, who has been detained since the beginning of October, initially denied the allegations but later confessed.
In addition to the prison sentence, he is also sentenced to pay 315,000 kronor in damages to the victimized girl.
