There were plus signs for leading indexes on the stock exchanges in China after a few hours of trading on Wednesday.
In Shanghai and Shenzhen, the composite indexes were up 0.6 and 0.5 percent, respectively. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index was up 1.4 percent.
In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 index stood at minus 0.3 percent, while Topix was unchanged.
In South Korea, Kospi was up 0.9 percent.
