Truck companies want to tear up the previous agreement with the authorities in the American state of California, writes E&E News published by Politico. It contained far-reaching requirements that trucks would go towards zero emissions of carbon dioxide from the engines.
But since the Department of Justice in Washington has repealed California's environmental regulations, the truck companies do not think they should have to follow the state's stricter environmental laws.
Therefore, the companies have sued the state in court where they claim that truck manufacturers should not have to follow the previous agreement on sales targets for emission-free trucks.
