A Turkish Airlines plane was forced to make an emergency landing in New York after one of the pilots died on board, the airline states in a statement.
The plane was on its way from Seattle to Istanbul on Wednesday when the 59-year-old pilot lost consciousness a short time after takeoff.
The crew decided to make an emergency landing and attempted to resuscitate the pilot, but his life could not be saved.
The man had worked for the airline since 2007. He was cleared for work in a routine check in March that did not indicate any health problems.
