Elias Pettersson had already been credited with an assist when he scored the 3-3 goal in the final period, taking the match to overtime.

After a goalless overtime, penalties were used to decide the winner, with Pettersson scoring again. The decisive penalty was scored by Conor Garland for Vancouver.

Extremely important for the team. Everyone fought. That we could come back was good and hopefully we can build on this, says the blue and yellow hockey star according to nhl.com.

The Swede was praised afterwards by team captain Quinn Hughes.

You don't get where he has gotten as a player and person without being a competitive person and without inner drive. It's been tough for him this year, but to step forward like he has in the last few matches is big. We'll need him to continue doing that, says Hughes.

Vancouver had two straight losses before visiting Calgary.
