According to the jury's motivation, he receives the prize "for a historically oriented authorship of impressive breadth and depth, with solid source-critical work, stylistic sharpness, and a tender gaze equally for the major development lines as for the small details and individual life stories".

Peter Englund is a historian and author, and has been a member of the Swedish Academy since 2002. He was born in 1957 in Boden and debuted in 1988 with "Poltava". Since then, he has produced several works on the Swedish era of greatness and the two World Wars, but also biographies, reportage, essay collections, TV scripts, and a crime story.

Peter Englund says in a statement from the Delblanc Society that he feels overwhelmed, happy, and honored to receive the Delblanc Prize.

"In my world, Sven Delblanc is one of the truly great, with a breadth that impresses, and a fire that inspires".
