Glenn Close gets the lead role as Helene Tursten's heroine Maud, in a British drama series based on the Swedish author's books.
It is ”Elderly lady with wicked intentions” from 2019 and ”Elderly lady with dark secrets” from 2020 that will now be filmed and broadcast on British Channel 4. The series title will simply be ”Maud”, writes Deadline.
Glenn Close plays Maud Oldcastle, an elderly woman who in the books lives in Gothenburg and pretends to be half-deaf and demented, but in secret murders people who she thinks make her life difficult.
”Maud Oldcastle is not like any other role I've played before,” says Glenn Close in a statement.
The series is written by Nina and Moses Raine and produced by Playground, the company behind ”Wolf Hall”.
Recordings are expected to begin in London later this year.
Helene Tursten's successful books about detective inspector Irene Huss have previously been filmed and also achieved international success.
