2025 was said to be the year when the big summer hit shone with its absence. But Sweden goes against the trend. On Spotify's list of the year's most played songs in the summer, Swedish pop reigns – in Swedish.

At the top of the list is "Tusen spänn" with Tjuvjakt and Fanny Avonne, followed by Ida-Lova's "Svagare än jag". In fifth place comes an international star: American Alex Warren with "Ordinary".

"Many talk about there not being any global summer hit in 2025, but in Sweden the trend looks different. Swedish pop in Swedish has dominated", notes Emma Vikström, music manager at Spotify, in a press release.

Other Swedish songs on the list are Lov1's "Sommarkatt", Niklas Strömstedt's classic "Om" and Melodifestival winners KAJ with "Bara bada bastu".

"What unites the songs is of course strong melodies and a refrain that is obvious to sing along to", says Emma Vikström.
