The Danish Writers' Association is requesting the Danish branch of Hoi publishing to go bankrupt. In a press release, the Swedish Writers' Association writes that the previous warning they issued for Hoi remains in place.

"We will continue to closely follow the development in Denmark, and are also in dialogue with both Hoi and the authors who have not received their royalty payments. The situation is worrisome and for those considering entering into an agreement with Hoi, it is essential to be aware of the company's financial situation", says the Chairman of the Writers' Association, Anja Gatu.

Hoi publishing was Sweden's first hybrid publisher and is still one of the largest. In 2017, the business expanded to Denmark.

Hybrid publishers offer writers the opportunity to publish their books and receive help with professional editing and marketing – for a fee.
