A dead woman has been found in a woodland area in Gothenburg. According to the police, it cannot be ruled out that she was subjected to a crime and the case is therefore being handled as a suspected murder.
We received alerts from several private individuals about a deceased person in a woodland area, says August Brandt, press spokesperson for the police.
We do not know what happened, but circumstances at the scene make it impossible to rule out a crime.
The body was found on Thursday afternoon. In the evening, the police announced that the deceased woman was of younger middle age and that relatives had not yet been informed.
A forensic medical examination will be conducted on the body.
A larger area around the discovery site was cordoned off for a technical investigation. It is now complete and the cordons have been lifted.
