Alvar Myhlback was the best Swedish male athlete, finishing in tenth place in La Diagonela, which stretched 43 kilometers (shortened from 55 kilometers due to lack of snow) through the picturesque Swiss Engadine Valley.
However, the 18-year-old had no chance when the large leading group made their move in a sprint between the house facades in the village of Zuoz. Myhlback ultimately finished six seconds behind the winner Amund Riege.
The top four spots were also taken by Norwegians – Johan Hoel, Amund Hoel, and Petter Stakston – before the Frenchmen Thomas Joly and Jeremy Royer broke the Norwegian dominance slightly.
The women's race was also a Norwegian affair. The trio Emilie Fleten, Silje Øyre Slind, and Anikken Gjerde Alnæs took an early lead and never let go. Slind took the win after a sprint finish with Fleten, with Alnæs in third place.
Both Stina Nilsson and Jenny Larsson reached the podium last weekend, but were never really close this time. Nilsson was the best Swedish athlete, finishing fifth, 2:18 behind the winner. Hanna Lodin finished sixth (+2:59), and Jenny Larsson seventh (+3:40).
