Pakistani air raids against targets in Afghanistan have killed over 40 people, according to the Taliban government in Afghanistan. The attacks took place in Paktika province, and targeted four targets in the Barmal region.
The conflict in the border area has escalated in recent times, but has been a latent hotspot since the Taliban took power in Kabul in 2021.
According to Pakistani security sources cited by the AFP news agency, the targets of the attacks were "hideouts for terrorists".
At least 16 Pakistani soldiers were killed just over a week ago in an attack on military outposts near the border with Afghanistan. The siege of the outposts in the Make area lasted for over two hours. The Taliban movement took responsibility for the attacks.
