Örgryte icon Sören Börjesson is dead, writes Göteborgs-Posten. He became 68 years old.
We are deeply affected and shocked by this and naturally feel very much for Sören's family, says Öis chairman Terje Johansson to the newspaper.
Börjesson, who passed away during the night to Thursday, came to Örgryte in the 1970s. When Öis took the Swedish Championship gold in 1985, the club's first since 1928, Börjesson was team captain. The same season, he also shared first place in the Allsvenskan top scorer league.
Sören Börjesson also managed five A-international matches during his playing career. When it was over, he had various roles in Örgryte, where he also briefly stepped in as head coach on a couple of occasions.
