Truls Möregårdh and Anton Källberg faced a tough task in the second round of the doubles tournament in European Smash in Malmö when they were pitted against the top-seeded pair Lim Jong-hoon and An Jae-hyun from South Korea.
Unfortunately, for the Swedes, they did not manage to pull off an upset and are therefore eliminated in the doubles after a loss of 1–3 in sets (8-11, 11-8, 9–11, 11–13).
It's clear that it's frustrating that it didn't last longer than it did, but we still played a pretty good match and it feels like there's something to build on, says Källberg after the match to SVT and continues:
We want to win at all costs. We did what we could, so we have to analyze what we could have done better.
Truls Möregårdh remains in the singles tournament and will play on on Wednesday evening.
Sweden's exit also came for Sweden's number one Linda Bergström in the women's singles tournament.
Bergström was, before the match against world number seven Mima Ito from Japan, the only remaining Swedish player in the women's singles. And Bergström, ranked 60 in the world, had nothing to set against the 24-year-old and lost the match clearly with 0–3 in sets (3–11, 3–11, 8–11).
I know that if she plays well, it will be very tough, and she set a good pace from the start and I had trouble keeping up. The way she plays is very tough. It's probably the playing style that I have the most trouble with, says Bergström.
