Harvey Weinstein denies the new allegations that are being brought up as he is being prosecuted again in New York.
The proceedings against the film mogul are starting after the four-year-old conviction for rape and sexual assault was overturned in April this year and the trial is being retried due to mistakes made the first time.
After undergoing heart surgery last week, Weinstein cancelled an interrogation by prosecutors, but now he is back in the courtroom.
The details of the new indictment will be made public only after Weinstein has been brought before the court. Prosecutors have previously stated that it involves three assaults in two hotels and a residence in New York in the mid-2000s.
The Harvey Weinstein case was the starting point for the #metoo movement that spread across the world. Four years ago, Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison for rape and sexual assault, a sentence he is serving on Rikers Island in New York.
He is also sentenced to 16 years in prison in a court in Los Angeles.
