Olympic Games replay for Roos – seventh in Paris

Paris was just like Tokyo. Shot putter Fanny Roos finished seventh in the Olympic Games final. It's a bit of both, it's clear you always want to throw further, she says to Max.

The second attempt was Fanny Roos' best in the shot put final at Stade de France.

18.78 meters were enough to be among the eight best in the starting field – and gave three more attempts in front of the packed arena on the outskirts of Paris.

Three chances that didn't result in longer distances.

The 29-year-old finished seventh – just like in Tokyo 2021.

It's a bit of both, it's clear you always want to throw longer. But being seventh, I'm satisfied with considering the list before the competition and so on, says Roos.

For OS-debutant Axelina Johansson, the final was over after just three attempts.

She reached 18.03 meters in the first and followed up with two straight fouls.

Yemisi Ogunleye from Germany reached 20 meters with her last attempt and won ahead of Maddison-Lee Wesche, New Zealand, and Song Jiayuan, China, who threw 19.86 and 19.32 respectively.
