Frida Karlsson's injury problems began in earnest in August last year. Then she had to cancel her participation in the roller skiing competition in the Norwegian Toppidrottsveckan.
This was the beginning of an injury period that has lasted throughout the winter and delayed the start of this year's preseason.
Series of pains
Per Nilsson tells that Frida Karlsson got a feeling in a foot and therefore began to correct her movements during training. The consequence was problems in the groin and the attachments to the abdominal muscles.
There is a lot that attaches there with the working muscles, says Per Nilsson.
There was talk of an operation that did not happen.
It was probably lucky because then it would probably have been an even longer injury period, says Per Nilsson, who gets moved when he thinks back to the World Championship in Trondheim where Karlsson took double gold.
Full training
The 25-year-old normally starts preseason training on May 1, but this year she had to postpone it.
She was cautious and has done alternative training far into the preseason, says Per Nilsson.
But now she is back in full training:
Last year, there was not much running, but now she can do everything, run and ride roller skis. Now she is according to plan. She trains the amount and load that is suitable at this time of year and it is quite a lot, says coach Nilsson.
National team camp
But the later start to summer training is noticeable:
Frida has felt that she has been a bit behind considering her July form. She usually is in good shape in July, but it does not matter since there are few ski competitions then. You do not need to panic because you have started later.
Frida Karlsson will be attending the national team camp that starts on her birthday, August 10 in Torsby.
