The 38-year-old Argentine has suffered a "minor muscle injury in his right leg", according to Inter Miami in a statement after the star was examined on Sunday.

When he can return depends on "his clinical progress and response to treatment", according to the statement.

Messi suffered the injury in the 11th minute of the match, when he slipped and ran into the opponent's defender Alexis Pena. Messi tried to continue after the incident, but sat down just a short while later and signaled that he could not continue.
