Norway's Justice Minister Emilie Mehl (Sp) announces that the country is extending the temporary internal border control until November 11.

"The background to my decision is a continued elevated terror threat, seen in the light of the events in Stockholm and Copenhagen. Furthermore, there is a possible connection to foreign states and recruitment of criminal networks to carry out terrorist acts in Europe", says Mehl in a press release.

"We are now extending the border control for 20 days, but I do not rule out that we will extend it further", she continues.

The purpose is to give the police more tools, for example, to be able to retrieve passenger data.

The Norwegian security service PST raised the threat level to high (4) on October 8 due to the development in the Middle East.
