Volvo Cars and Northvolt's jointly owned company Novo Energy wants 12.7 billion kronor from the state for the construction of the battery factory in Torslanda, Gothenburg, reports Dagens Nyheter.
The company has applied for a grant from the Energy Agency.
During this type of process, there is always a discussion with the Energy Agency, so that amount should be seen as a maximum amount, says Christian Jebsen, communications manager at Novo Energy, to the newspaper.
Novo Energy's construction of the factory in Torslanda began in April. According to documents from the Energy Agency that DN has taken part of, around 20 billion kronor is needed to complete it and start production.
Battery manufacturer Northvolt is currently going through an economic crisis, needs to close parts of its factory in Skellefteå and has announced layoffs.
