The attacks followed after Israel, in Arabic-language posts on X, urged the population to evacuate "near facilities and interests linked to Hezbollah".
Several buildings were pointed out in the warnings, including buildings near the international airport. And it was there that the Israeli bombs later fell, but what damage had occurred was initially unclear.
At the same time, air raid sirens sounded in northern Israel, and rockets from the Lebanese Shia militia Hezbollah are reported to have hit several locations. Light personal injuries are reported.
Israel's airstrikes continue a pattern from the past few days against what Israel describes as the Iran-backed Hezbollah strongholds in the Lebanese capital.
On Thursday, the Israeli military announced that it had hit around 30 targets in al-Dahiya, where the militia has the largest presence. The attacks have led to large numbers of civilians leaving their homes.
