In the southern province of Nabatieh, a mother, father, and their three children were killed in an Israeli attack on Friday, according to Lebanon's state news agency, without specifying the children's ages.
Further deadly attacks were carried out in other parts of southern Lebanon, including the coastal city of Tyre.
In southern Beirut, the attacks followed Israel's warning to the population to evacuate "near facilities and interests linked to Hezbollah".
Several addresses were identified in the warnings, including properties near the international airport. And it was there that the Israeli bombs later fell.
33 billion
The total devastation after the recent warfare is described in several media outlets as similar to that after the 2006 war. Afterward, it was reported that both Israeli and Lebanese authorities thought the war had gone too far.
Rebuilding everything is now estimated to cost around three billion US dollars (33 billion kronor), and take up to five years.
And yet, the conflict is not over, even though efforts towards a ceasefire are taking more concrete forms.
Support from Iran
A draft agreement is said to have been submitted by the US and Israel to Lebanon's Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Speaker Nabih Berri, who are negotiating on behalf of the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia.
According to sources for AFP, Lebanon's government is reviewing the draft, which is reported to involve a 60-day ceasefire during which Lebanon would move its forces to the border area.
At the same time, Ali Larijani, an aide to Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei, is in Beirut. After meetings with, among others, Berri, he is reported to have said that Iran, the major power that supplies Hezbollah with weapons, supports any decisions the militia makes regarding an end to the war.
Many killed
The conflict is also raging on elsewhere. A total of 59 people were killed, according to Lebanon's Health Department, in Israeli attacks on Thursday, most of them in eastern Baalbek.
In northern Israel, light injuries were reported after rockets from Hezbollah struck several areas on Friday.
In Syria, state media writes that Israel has again launched an air attack on al-Mazzah, an affluent part of the capital Damascus. The district was also attacked on Thursday, when several people were reported killed.
