Stubb, who has formed a bond of friendship with Trump over the two leaders' common interest in golf, hopes that Trump will soon lose patience with Russia's president Vladimir Putin.
I hope that the Western countries' – especially the US's – patience runs out. Every time President Trump has lost patience, he has taken measures that have helped the attempts to reach a solution (to the war in Ukraine), says Stubb to reporters.
As an example, Stubb mentions the heavy tariffs against India that the US says it is ready to introduce this week.
The latest example is the tariffs against India, because India buys Russian oil, gas and weapons, he says and continues:
If President Trump were to do the same thing against countries X, Y and Z, we might perhaps be able to return to the negotiating table.
What do you think?
