Nicaragua has revoked the citizenship of 135 former political prisoners and confiscated their properties.
The former prisoners were released and flown to Guatemala last week following an agreement negotiated by the USA.
A court in the capital Managua states that the former prisoners will lose their citizenship after being convicted of "criminal acts threatening the sovereignty, independence, and self-determination of the Nicaraguan people".
In August this year, Nicaragua ordered 1,500 individual organizations, many of them focused on aid or human rights, to cease their operations. This decision is seen as part of the government's efforts to suppress all opposition.
