A young woman from the USA is accused of throwing her newborn baby out of a hotel window in Paris. The baby was taken to hospital, but was declared dead there.
According to media reports, the baby was thrown out of the window shortly after being born to the 18-year-old woman, who had been traveling through Europe with a group of young adults from the USA.
The suspected perpetrator has been taken to hospital for care after giving birth. There, she has been detained and the authorities are investigating, among other things, the possibility that the woman was not aware of or had not accepted her pregnancy.
The incident is being formally investigated as murder of a minor under 15 years old.
